Foursquare Missions International (FMI) is a partnership between Foursquare churches in the U.S., and Foursquare national works overseas. FMI exists to help network resources, build relationships, and give missions leadership where needed. Go there
"To engender an awareness of God's heart for the nations so as to involve the whole church in reaching the nations whether by going to foreign fields, sending others, facilitating better understanding, praying, or all of these things."
This is our purpose in regard to the Mile High District and its involvement in today's world. I had the privilege of hammering the details of this statement out with several missions-minded people from our district and I want to share with you what it means.
Let me dissect the purpose statement a little bit. What do we mean by"...an awareness of God's heart for the nations...?" God, all through the Bible expresses His love for the nations. The term "nations" is mentioned well over 600 times in Scripture. The original term for "nations" in Scripture(ethne) actually means "people groups". A "people group" is a distinct segment of the greater population with its own language, lifestyle, and/or traditions. According to this definition, there are hundreds of "nations" living right here in the US. And,I think if a parent or teacher mentions something 600 times, it must be important!
"...so as to involve the whole church in reaching the nations..." As followers of Christ, it is our responsibility to reach this generation for Christ wherever its people are found. There are no "professional" or "nonprofessional" spokespersons for Christ. The whole church is to be involved in impacting the whole world.
"...by going to foreign fields, sending others, facilitating better understanding, praying, or all of these things." What this is saying is there are as many different roles in reaching today's nations and nationalities as there are gifts in the church. Every gift and ability that can be utilized in the church here at home is just as needed on the foreign field. Another thing being said is: There is not necessarily a need to travel or move anywhere in order to reach the nations. Today's world has changed dramatically, with numerous nations being represented right here in the metro area. We are not all called to move away from our familiar surroundings, but we are all called to go into all the world and preach the Gospel. Some of us are called to go to distant places, some of us are called to financially support others who go. Some are called and gifted to host those who would come to us here, and some are called to work on a daily basis among internationals right here in Denver. The call to prayer is unmistakable.
I feel that I now have much better connection with the Foursquare family throughout the world than I ever have had before. My interactions with church leaders in Norway, France, the Netherlands, and Mexico, as well as with you in our district, and the leaders in Los Angeles, have given me a perspective I could not acquire any other way. We as a district have quite a wide array of gifts, abilities, and "areas of burden" (specific peoples we as individuals might be inclined toward). This is a GREAT thing. We also have an amazing cohesiveness. It is my desire to see more people from Mile High traveling to foreign places with the purpose of touching people's lives for Jesus Christ. It is my desire, as well, to see more "stateside" servants rising up to pray fervently, as well as to give generously. I want to see more district-wide teams going to such places as France, Mexico, Norway, SE Asia, wherever there is an invitation from the leadership for us to come. So, whether we go, send, facilitate, pray, or, preferably all of the aforementioned, let us reach today's nations with the good news!
May we all have ears to hear what God is saying to us as a district regarding the peoples of today's world.
Remember what Psalm 67 says to us:
"May God be gracious to us and bless us
and make his face to shine upon us,
that your way may be known upon earth,
your saving power among all nations.
Let the peoples praise you, O God; let all the peoples praise you.
Let the nations be glad and sing for joy,
for you judge the peoples with equity and guide the nations upon earth.
Let the peoples praise you, O God, let all the peoples praise you.
The earth has yielded its increase; God, our God, has blessed us.
May God continue to bless us; let all the ends of the earth revere him."

Foursquare Missions Press
Foursquare Missions Press (FMP), located in Norwalk, California, offers free tracts and booklets in 47 different languages for teams to distribute during their ministry overseas. You can order these online at http://www.foursquaremissionspress.com or you can call Foursquare Missions Press at 213-989-4420.
FMP utilizes volunteers to help in their production facilities. They also need volunteers to prepare mailings, to sort Children?s Gospel Box Sunday School curriculum, to make puppets, and prepare these items to ship to other countries.
FMP depends completely upon the generosity of friends and churches to allow them to give free literature to the missions field. All gifts receive full denominational missions giving credit (credited towards ICFG retirement fund). Loose change cans and boxes are free upon request to support both the Press and Children?s Gospel Box ministries.
